When I became a mom and started ordering school pictures for my own kids, I was surprised to see that school photos haven’t changed much since I was a kid in the 90s. After all, so much has changed so since then, why hasn’t school photography?
I think the answer is simple. School administrators and parents have simply become accustomed to the way school portraits have always been done.
I love the tradition of school pictures, and I especially love creating meaningful portraits of children. So I’m making it my mission to be a Jacksonville School Photographer that offers something different. With many years of experience photographing children and families, school photography is a natural fit. I love working with kids, they’re hilarious, they’re cool, and they’re all so unique and unapologetically themselves. I feel like their school pictures should convey that.
My goal is to keep everything we love about school pictures while making the experience better for everyone involved. That means beautiful, thoughtfully created portraits for families, a streamlined paperless ordering experience, and a picture day process that is simple and organized for school staff.
No child should feel like they are being rushed through a conveyor belt, and no family should have to settle for a school portrait they don’t love. I want to create school pictures that feel personal, polished, and genuinely worthy of being displayed in your home.

My approach to Jacksonville school photography is about more than creating beautiful portraits. It is about improving the entire picture day experience, from the moment a school begins planning to the moment a family receives their images.
I have designed my school photography experience to be simple, personal, and completely paperless. Schools receive clear communication and an organized process, while families receive beautiful portraits, more choices, and an easy way to view and order their images online.
Most importantly, I want children to have a positive experience in front of the camera. A school portrait does not have to feel rushed or overly posed. With thoughtful lighting, simple backgrounds, and a little more attention to each student, we can create school pictures that actually look and feel like them.
One of the biggest differences between boutique school photography and conventional school portraits is the experience itself.
Traditional school picture day is often built around moving large numbers of students through a studio setup as quickly as possible. That approach can be efficient, but it does not always leave much room for personality.
My approach gives each student a little more time and attention when the school’s schedule allows. I interact with students, help them feel comfortable, and look for genuine smiles, expressions, and moments of personality.
Sometimes that means capturing a big smile. Sometimes it is a serious expression, a little laugh, or something completely unexpected. Those small differences are what make a portrait feel personal.
The goal is not to create a completely different pose for every child. It is to give each student enough attention to create a small collection of photographs that feels natural and authentic to them.
Thoughtful lighting and carefully chosen backgrounds are also an important part of my approach. I keep the look clean and polished so the focus stays on the student and the resulting portraits feel beautiful enough to display in your home.
Sibling portraits are also available and are especially popular with private schools and preschools. They are a wonderful way to document the relationships between children who attend the same school.

Another significant difference with boutique school photography is the number of images families get to see.
With many conventional school picture programs, families receive one primary portrait selected for them. While that keeps the process simple, it does not give parents much opportunity to choose an image that really feels like their child.
Instead, families receive a private online gallery with multiple portraits to choose from.
The number of images varies depending on the student, but I aim to provide at least three different photographs, along with black and white versions, giving families a minimum of six images to consider.
Some students naturally give us a whole range of expressions, while others prefer to keep things simple. Either way, I want parents to have more than one option.
Families can then choose the photographs that speak to them and select the products that make sense for their home, whether that means prints, digital downloads, canvas artwork, or a collection of products.
Beautiful school portraits are only part of what makes a great school photography program. The process needs to work well for the school, too.
I handle communication, scheduling, galleries, ordering, and customer service with a streamlined, paperless system designed to make picture day as easy as possible for school administrators and staff.
Before picture day, I work closely with the school to understand the schedule, student population, photography needs, and any special considerations. We can communicate by phone, email, Zoom, or an in person consultation depending on what works best for the school.
On picture day, the goal is to keep students moving efficiently while still giving them the attention they need to create beautiful portraits.
Afterward, families receive their private online galleries and can view and order their images without sending paperwork or money back to the school.
I also personally handle customer service, so families have a real person to contact if they have questions about their gallery or order.

I am proud to offer boutique school photography throughout Jacksonville, Jacksonville Beach, and the surrounding Northeast Florida area.
I work with private schools, public schools, preschools, K-12 programs, academies, and homeschool communities. Every school has its own culture, schedule, and priorities, so I take the time to understand what will work best for each school before picture day.
My goal is to provide Jacksonville schools with a photography experience that feels organized and professional while giving families school portraits they are genuinely excited to receive.
Whether your school is looking for a more modern alternative to traditional school pictures or simply wants a smoother picture day experience, I would love to talk about what that could look like for your community.
School pictures are still a wonderful tradition. They document how children looked at each stage of their lives and give families something tangible to look back on as their children grow.
I don’t think the tradition needs to disappear. I think the experience can simply be better.
Modern school photography can still be organized, efficient, and practical for schools while giving students more individual attention and families more beautiful images to choose from.
For students, that means a more relaxed experience in front of the camera.
For families, it means more choices and portraits that feel personal.
For schools, it means a streamlined process with communication and customer service handled from start to finish.
That is what I hope to bring to Jacksonville school photography: a modern, thoughtful approach to something families have been doing for generations.

Boutique school photography focuses on creating a more personalized portrait experience for each student. Instead of a single quick pose, students are photographed with a little more time and attention, which allows for natural expressions and a small variety of images. Families are typically able to view a larger gallery and choose the photos they prefer rather than selecting from only one or two options.
Families usually receive access to a gallery of images for their child rather than a single portrait. The size of the gallery will depend on how expressive the child is, but I try to have at least three different pictures in the gallery for parents to choose from (in addition to the black and white versions, for a minimum of 6 images). On average, there are 5-10 images per student gallery.
After picture day, parents receive a private online gallery where they can view and select their favorite images. From there they can choose a la carte prints, print packages, digital downloads, and canvases depending on what works best for their family.
It doesn’t have to. When working with larger schools, there are often time constraints. We are able to run an efficient process while generating beautiful portraits. When I’m able, I do like to give students a little more time in front of the camera so I can deliver galleries to families. I work closely with schools in advance through an in-person or Zoom consultation we can communication about the school’s needs for picture day.
Most schools choose either standard school uniforms or simple dress guidelines for picture day. Clean, simple clothing and neutral colors tend to photograph best and create a classic look that families enjoy year after year.
