I started offering school photography because when I look at conventional school photos of my two boys, I can see there is so much room for improvement. Typically, the lighting is harsh, the backdrops are dated and distracting, and the pose (as well as their expression) appears forced. This is because large, corporate school photography outfits are focused on quantity over quality. Unfortunately, this has become normal over time and families have come to expect a less than ideal product.
I believe that parents shouldn’t have to settle for mediocre school portraits, and I’m so excited to offer a different approach. One that focuses on capturing beautiful portraits, and a more personalized and boutique experience for both schools and families.

One of the biggest differences in my style school of photography is the experience itself. Traditional school photography companies often photograph hundreds of students in a short amount of time using the same pose and backdrop for everyone.
With a more personalized approach, each student is given a little more time in front of the camera. That extra time allows me to interact with the kids to draw out some real laughs/smiles, and sometimes a whole range of expressions and poses. The result is a set of portraits that feel more like a genuine reflection of the student rather than a quick snapshot.
Extra time also means more artistic and high quality photos prioritizing thoughtful lighting and backgrounds that feel simple and timeless. The goal is to create images that families will truly enjoy displaying rather than photos that simply fulfill a yearly requirement.

Another common frustration with traditional school portraits is that there is only one delivered image that is selected for you.
With boutique school photography, families typically receive access to a larger gallery of images for their child. This allows them to choose as many different poses and expressions as they’d like, rather than settling for a single option. The number of images in a child’s gallery will vary depending on how expressive the child is, but I like to offer at least 3 different photos to choose from as well as a black and white option for a total of 6 photos.
Providing more variety also makes the ordering process more flexible. Families can select prints, digital images, or collections that best fit their needs without feeling restricted by preset packages.

Schools and administrators often appreciate an approach that keeps the process organized and straightforward. Communication, scheduling, and delivery is completely paperless and is designed to be simple for both the school and the families. The goal is to create a smooth experience that supports the school while still giving families a better overall product.
Because sessions are planned thoughtfully, picture day can move efficiently while still allowing students a few extra moments to feel comfortable in front of the camera. Clear communication before and after picture day also helps ensure that families know exactly how to view and order their images, and I happily handle all the customer service personally.
The Jacksonville area is home to a wide range of schools and learning communities. From small private schools to local academies and enrichment programs, and many educators are ready for school photography that reflects the care and attention they bring to their students every day.
I’m proud to offer school photography to both private and public schools in Northeast Florida, including preschools, K-12 public and private schools, and the homeschool community.
Working with diverse schools throughout the Jacksonville area allows for a collaborative approach that fits the needs of each individual school while still maintaining a consistent portrait style.
School portraits are a tradition that many families look forward to each year. When done well, they become meaningful records of how quickly children grow and change from year to year.
A boutique approach to school photography focuses on creating portraits that feel natural, polished, and personal while still maintaining an organized and efficient process for schools.
For families, it means more choice and better images. For schools, it means a reliable system and a photography experience that reflects the quality of their community.

I’m so glad you asked. No, my pricing is competitive with larger photography companies. Additionally, I offer a la carte items, multiple print packages, and digitals downloads to suit the needs of every family.
Boutique school photography focuses on creating a more personalized portrait experience for each student. Instead of a single quick pose, students are photographed with a little more time and attention, which allows for natural expressions and a small variety of images. Families are typically able to view a larger gallery and choose the photos they prefer rather than selecting from only one or two options.
Families usually receive access to a gallery of images for their child rather than a single portrait. The size of the gallery will depend on the how expressive the child is, but I try to have at least three different pictures in the gallery for parents to choose from (in addition to the black and white versions, for a minimum of 6 images total). On average, there are 5-10 images per student gallery.
After picture day, parents receive a private online gallery where they can view and select their favorite images. From there they can choose a la carte prints, print packages, digital downloads, and canvases depending on what works best for their family.
Generating beautiful portraits takes a little more time than conventional photography. The process is designed to remain efficient while still giving students a little more time in front of the camera. I work closely with schools in advance so that picture day runs smoothly and students move through the process in an organized way.
Most schools choose either standard school uniforms or simple dress guidelines for picture day. Clean, simple clothing and neutral colors tend to photograph best and create a classic look that families enjoy year after year.
